Terms of Service
Effective date: May 19, 2026
These terms govern your use of AnchorPoint (“the Service”), a research tool for analyzing long-dated equity options. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What AnchorPoint is, and what it isn’t
AnchorPoint is a research and educational tool that analyzes publicly available options data and produces algorithmic scores and signals based on the data and the parameters you provide. The output is informational.
AnchorPoint is not:
- A registered investment advisor
- A broker-dealer
- A source of personalized financial advice
- Capable of placing trades, accessing your funds, or modifying your brokerage account in any way
The Service requires you to provide your own Alpaca Markets paper trading API keys. Live (real-money) keys are not supported by the Service and should not be provided. Your keys are used only to fetch market data on your behalf; AnchorPoint cannot use these keys to place orders because paper API keys can only interact with the paper trading environment.
2. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
- Have a valid Alpaca Markets paper trading account
- Not be located in any jurisdiction where access to the Service or to Alpaca Markets is prohibited
3. Your account
You sign in using a third-party identity provider (currently Google via Firebase Authentication). You are responsible for maintaining the security of the account you use to sign in. We do not store passwords; authentication is delegated entirely to the identity provider.
You may have only one account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your contact email current.
4. Your API keys
To use the Service, you must add at least one set of Alpaca paper trading API keys. By adding keys, you represent that:
- The keys belong to an account you own or are authorized to use
- The keys are paper trading keys, not live keys
- You understand the Service will use the keys to fetch market data and option chain information on your behalf
We store your API keys encrypted at rest. We make reasonable efforts to protect them. However, no system is perfectly secure. You acknowledge that storing third-party credentials with any service involves residual risk, and you accept that risk by providing your keys.
You may remove your keys at any time from the Settings page. Removed keys are cryptographically deleted from our database. If you suspect your keys have been compromised, regenerate them in your Alpaca dashboard immediately and update them in your AnchorPoint Settings.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent authentication or access other users’ data
- Use the Service to scrape, redistribute, or commercially exploit market data in violation of Alpaca’s terms
- Submit live trading API keys, even if technically possible
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service beyond what is publicly visible
- Use the Service to harm, harass, or deceive other users
- Use automated tools to flood the Service with requests beyond reasonable individual use
6. The output is not advice
The scoring, exit signals, and any other algorithmic output of the Service are produced by a deterministic formula applied to public market data. They are not personalized to your financial situation, risk tolerance, tax position, or investment goals.
The Service displays UI labels such as HOLD, CONSIDER, and SELL on tracked positions. These labels reflect the output of threshold checks and are not recommendations within the meaning of any securities regulation. They do not constitute investment advice, do not constitute a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, and are not produced by a registered investment advisor or broker-dealer.
You alone are responsible for any decisions you make based on the information shown. We strongly encourage consulting a licensed financial advisor before making investment decisions.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that market data will be accurate, timely, or complete. Market data is provided by third parties (Alpaca and its data providers) under their own terms.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
- Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months, or (b) one U.S. dollar.
- We are not liable for trading decisions you make, for any losses or missed gains, for tax consequences of your trading, or for any actions of third parties including Alpaca Markets.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AnchorPoint, its operators, and contributors from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from (a) your use of the Service, (b) any trading decisions you make, (c) your violation of these terms, or (d) your violation of any applicable law.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your user record, your encrypted API keys, and your tracked positions from our database.
We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms or are using the Service in a way that could harm us or other users. We will make a reasonable effort to notify you, but we are not obligated to.
We may discontinue the Service entirely at any time. We will make a reasonable effort to notify users in advance if we do.
11. Data security and breach notification
We use industry-standard encryption (symmetric AES-128 via Fernet) to protect API keys stored in our database. The encryption key is held separately from the database.
If we become aware of a security incident that may have exposed your API keys or personal information, we will notify you within a reasonable timeframe and recommend remediation steps. New Jersey state law and other applicable regulations may impose specific notification timelines, which we will follow.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” above and, where practical, notify you via the email associated with your account. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.
14. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to the contact email shown on the AnchorPoint home page. We do our best to respond promptly but cannot guarantee a response time.
